CANDAC Student-Researchers Atmospheric Collaboration

CANDAC (Canadian Network for the Detection of Atmospheric Change) researchers have teamed up with students and staff at schools in Ontario and Nunavut to launch a new project that encourages young people to become active researchers who monitor atmospheric conditions using scientific instruments at their school. Researchers and students work together to gather, compare and analyse data to better understand the current state of Earth's dynamic atmosphere.

Hello from Pickering College!

The Primary students at Pickering College in Newmarket, Ontario are thrilled to be part of the CANDAC student researchers outreach programme again this year. Students in Kindergarten to Grade 3 are taking daily weather, temperature and wind measurements. We have had such a fluctuation in temperature this April that it makes our recordings both interesting and surprising, with lots to talk about! These young students are engaged in what they are learning about the weather and enjoy collaborating on the project.

Hello Grade 1 students! It looks like you found a great place for your thermometers and firmly mounted them to the fence.

Were your thermometers affected by the ice we had last Thursday/Friday?!
