Why do we take daily measurments?

Sometimes it can feel like an extra chore to go outside and take a measurement, especially when it is cold or cloudy! But,  there is a reason we want to have daily weather information (we promise!)

Taking daily measurements allows researchers to identify patterns in the data we are collecting. By understanding patterns of temperature, wind, solar insolation, and aerosol optical thickness as measured by instruments, we can describe our local weather and climate, and compare it historical weather patterns.

Here is a video that helps to put our daily weather measurements into the context of studying the changing climate.
